Former Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball Player Jeff DeCock Passes Away

Former Iowa Lakes Community College student athlete, Jeff DeCock, a Lamberton, Minn. native, passed away Tuesday morning as a result of an automobile accident.  

Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach, Troy Larson stated "It is a very sad day for Iowa Lakes Athletics. Jeff lived his life to the fullest and always had a smile on his face. We enjoyed having him at Iowa Lakes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the DeCock family."

Jeff attended Iowa Lakes Community College from 2013-2015.  He was a redshirt freshman in 2013-2014.  In 2014-2015, DeCock averaged 5 points per game and grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game.  He shot 51.3 percent from the field and 77.4 percent from the free throw line.  Jeff completed his education at Iowa Lakes with an Associate in Arts degree in May 2015.

DeCock continued his education at Minnesota State University where he was a member of the Maverick's Track and Field program.  He placed 14th in the high jump at the 2016 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.  Jeff was the 2016 and 2017 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference indoor high jump champion.
