Iowa Lakes Community College Head Coach Katie Larson announced the signing of Yasmine Nix to the 2017-2018 recruiting class. Yasmine is the daughter of Siah and Lorene Nix and played for La Quinta High School and the SoCal Dynasty.
"Yasmine will be an excellent addition to our Iowa Lakes family." Said Larson. "She comes from a high caliber program in California and we look for her to bring that winning attitude and competitiveness to Iowa Lakes."
A pitcher/third baseman, Nix will be joining a very strong recruiting class for the Lakers. In her career, she compiled a 9-4 record with a 2.21 ERA. She walked just 18 batters, while striking out 67. At the plate, Nix batted .379 in her career. She had 75 hits, including 17 doubles, 2 triples, and 7 homeruns and drove in 58 runs. Throughout her career, Yasmine earned 2nd Team All-League, 1st Team All-League, was a four year varsity softball letter winner, and was named 2017 Boys and Girls Club Sports Hero.
Yasmine has also excelled off the field earning academic letter her freshman and sophomore years. She was also a Lead 2 Feed Honorary member and named Coachella Valley Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year.
Coach Larson also had this to say about Yasmine, "Yasmine is a strong athlete that will take this team to the next level. The ball just pops off the bat every time she swings. Her skills and attitude in the circle will strengthen and complete our pitching staff this year. Yasmine also embodies the qualities of a Laker softball player. She is driven, selfless, and passionate. She gives 100% in everything that she does, whether that be on the field or in the classroom. We cannot wait to watch Yasmine compete in blue and gold this year!"
