Over the weekend the Lakers traveled to Cedar Rapids to face the Eagles from Kirkwood. The Lakers fell in game 1, 2-15. Freshman Nick Ryun had a leadoff single and found himself in scoring position on a pickoff attempt, that ended in an error. Freshman Carson Riggs scored Ryun on a ground ball to 3rd. Sophomore Beau Dalian hit a solo homerun, extending the Lakers' early lead. Freshman Spencer Kober added a hit (double) for the Lakers, as did sophomore Elkin Ortiz.
In game 2 the Lakers had 11 runs on 12 hits, coming up just 1 run short, falling 11-12. Leading the way for the Lakers was Freshman Carson Riggs with 3 hits (1 double) and 2 RBIs, Sophomore Beau Dalian added 2 hits (1 triple) and 2 RBIs, Freshmen Nick Ryun had 2 hits, and Jace Embry added 2 hits (homerun) and 3 RBIs for the Lakers. Sophomores Joel Prpic, Drake Van Meter, and freshman Spencer Kober all added a hit.
In game 3 the Lakers had 9 runs on 12 hits, falling 9-17. Freshmen Nick Ryun (2 RBIs), Carson Riggs (1 RBI), Jace Embry (1 RBI), and sophomore Joel Prpic (1 RBI) all had 2 hits for the Lakers. Sophomores Elkin Ortiz(1 RBI), Keyber Delgado, Drake Van Meter (1 RBI), and freshman Spencer Kober (2 RBIs) all added a hit.
The Lakers are back in action Wednesday April 2nd against Iowa Central at home. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm, weather permitting.
