Sophomore Elkin Ortiz was named to the ICCAC All-Region Honorable Mention team this season. Ortiz was no stranger to successes this season hitting a .258 with a .327 on base percentage and a .396 slugging percent. Ortiz had 47 hits, 9 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homeruns, 32 RBIs, 14 walks in 182 at bats this season. As the Laker's starting centerfielder, Ortiz played in 53 games, he had 115 total chances, 108 put outs, 4 assists and only 3 errors, combining for a .974 fielding percentage.
Laker Head Coach Chris Witzke had this to say, "It's great to see Elkin honored in this way. He's a great player that has grown tremendously in his time here."
