The Lakers completed their conference series against the Trojans from NIACC on Wednesday. The Lakers fell behind in the series falling in game 1 on March 31st, 7-18. In game 1 the Laker offense was led by sophomore Jace Embry with 2 hits, 3 RBIs and a homerun. Freshman Ayden Wells had 2 hits, 2 RBIs and a homerun. Combined the Laker pitching combined for 10 strikeouts, led by freshman Garrett Norick with 5.
In game 2 The Lakers won 21-3 in 5 innings. The offense was led by freshman Grant Dusatko with 3 hits and an RBI, sophomore Spencer Kober had 2 hits and 3 RBIs, Jace Embry had a hit and 5 RBIs, sophomore Johnny Marcos had a hit and 3 RBIs. Freshmen Ayden Wells, Eliezer Rolon-Cruz, Grant Dusatko, and sophomore Boyd Jones all added an RBI apiece. Throwing the full 5 innings was freshman Luke Holcomb. Holcomb allowed 3 runs (3 earned runs) on 7 hits, 2 walks, and tossing 5 strikeouts.
In game 3 the Lakers secured the series win with a 4-3 victory over the Trojans. The Lakers got off to a slow start in game 3 only scoring 1 run in the 3rd inning, not scoring again until the 8th inning. Leading the offense was Grant Dusatko with a hit and 2 RBIs, Eliezer Rolon-Cruz had 2 hits and an RBI, Johnny Marcos added 2 hits, Ayden Wells, Boyd Jones, and Kobe Peterson all added a hit. Getting the start in game 3 was freshman Cole McKinney. McKinney went 4.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Coming in for relief was sophomore Reggie York V, who threw 3.1 innings and allowing a run on 2 hits, a walk and 4 strikeouts. Freshman Joas Mercedes threw 1.1 innings and allowed no hits and no runs, while tossing 2 strikeouts.
In the series, the Lakers had 6 extra base hits and 2 homeruns and were led by freshman Eliezer Rolon-Cruz with 6 hits and 3 RBIs. Freshmen Grant Dusatko had 5 hits and 5 RBIs, freshman Ayden Wells had 5 hits, 3 RBIs, and 3 walks, sophomore Johnny Marcos had 5 hits and 3 RBIs, and sophomore Jace Embry had 3 hits and 8 RBIs.
The Lakers are back in action Saturday when they travel to Iowa Falls to take on Ellsworth. First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm on Saturday.
