Iowa Lakes Baseball to Host First Responders Day on May 2

Estherville, Iowa — Iowa Lakes Community College will recognize and honor the dedication of local first responders during First Responders Day at the Iowa Lakes baseball team's final home games of the season on Saturday, May 2.

The Lakers will take the field for a doubleheader against Northeast Iowa Community College, with games scheduled at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Hess-Limberg Baseball Complex in Estherville.

Between games, Iowa Lakes will host a special on-field recognition honoring the first responder personnel whose swift actions, professionalism, and care were instrumental in responding to the Iowa Lakes baseball accident that took place on February 11. Their efforts and commitment during that critical time made a lasting impact on the team, their families, and the entire Iowa Lakes community.

Following the recognition, hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided for attending first responders as a small token of appreciation for their service.

All first responders from across the region are invited to attend as honored guests. The event also serves as an opportunity for the community to come together in support and appreciation of those who answer the call each and every time an emergency arises.

"This day is about recognizing the individuals who are there in our most critical moments," said Troy Larson, vice president of student services and athletics and athletic director. "Their dedication to serving others does not go unnoticed, and we are proud to take this time to thank them and show our appreciation."

Fans, families, and community members are encouraged to attend and join Iowa Lakes in recognizing the impact first responders have across our communities.
