Estherville, IA – Head coach Jason McKinney and the Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team have announced its official roster for the 2025-26 season.
This year's roster features three returning players from last year's team. Sophomores Jermaine Freeman (Atlanta, GA/Alexander High School), Steven Martiniez (Dominican Republic/Detroit Western International High School), and Aaron Armstrong (Estherville, IA/Estherville Lincoln Central). Freeman will look to have a strong season after averaging 13.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists last season. Freeman was also named to the All-Region 11 Honorable Mention team. Martinez averaged 4 points, and 2 rebounds per contest last season while Armstrong saw limited action.
McKinney will also add a NJCAA Division 1 Juco transfer from Bismarck State in Germaal Forde. Forde averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds as a freshmen last season.
McKinney's freshmen class will include Joey Gagnon (Tabernash, CO/Middle Park High School), Jameson Kegler (Houston, TX/Aldine High School), Mason Wagner (Marion, IA/Marion High School), Byron Maina (Emmetsburg, IA/Emmetsburg High School), Cooper Harris (Terrigal, Central Cost/Terrigal High School), Sincere McMurren (Estherville, IA/Estherville Lincoln Central), Ethan Reytomas (Melbourne, Australia/Eltham College), Jack Wadlington (Westminster, CO/Broomfield High School), Jorge Castro (Houston, TX/Aldine High School), Aleksa Ilic (Vladicin Han, Serbia/Furtah Prep), Luke Thornton (Chelsford, Essex, England), Timothy Ofesi (Houston, TX/Alief Elsik High School), and Dominic Preiser (Singapore).
Laker Head Men's Basketball Coach had this to say about his group, " I am excited to coach this group of young men. We have worked extremely hard this fall in the weight room, in the classroom and in the gym. They compete every day and when you do that you will have a chance to be successful."
The Lakers are set to open the 2025-26 season on October 31st when they host Marshalltown at 7pm.
