The Lakers sent 7 men to Waterloo, IA, to compete in the Waterloo Intercollegiate hosted by Hawkeye CC. It was originally scheduled as a two-day, 36-hole event. Due to inclement weather, it was reduced to 18 holes. Southeast CC (NE) finished on top with an impressive total of 293 (+5). In second place, Hawkeye posted 297 (+9), and NIACC in 3rd with a 306 (+18). Tate Redinger (Southeast CC) was the individual medalist with a 69 (-3). Mitchell Randall (Hawkeye CC) was runner-up with a 70 (-2).
The Lakers tallied 308 (+20) and finished 4th. Sophomore Josh Matheason led the team with a 73 (+1), finishing T-6th. Freshman Adrien Pradaut was T-13 after carding a 77. Sophomores Drew Parsons, Nate Panka, and Kasey Grimmius all tied with 79's, finishing T19. Zakyus Smith ended in T-33 with a round of 83.
"There was a mixture of good and bad. Overall, we competed well and kept fighting. Gates Park GC sets up well for us and could have been a big confidence boost. Unfortunately, we weren't able to take advantage of some opportunities down the stretch. Josh put together a solid round and played well enough to be in contention. Certain things didn't fall his way - that's golf", said Coach Myers.
