Iowa Lakes Softball player, Lexi Chase, has recently signed to continue her athletic and academic careers at Northern State University. She will be studying Human Performance and Fitness at the university located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

"I am very excited to be announcing my commitment to Northern State University to continue my academic and softball career." Commented Chase. "Without the support of Iowa Lakes, I would have never been able to reach this goal. I would especially like to thank my coaches and teammates for their hard work and dedication throughout my time here. Their love and encouragement are what have driven me to do the best I can and pursue my dream through hard work and commitment."

Chase is the daughter of Jerry and Laura Chase. She is from Chatfield, MN, where she graduated from Chatfield High School with five varsity softball letters. She was a four-time All-Conference Team selection, four-time All-Section Team selection, one-time All-State Honorable Mention selection, one-time All-State 2^nd Team selection, and two-time All-State 1^st Team selection.

Chase had a standout year in her first season as a Laker. She was recognized for her efforts by receiving NFCA 2^nd Team All-American honors, ICCAC 1^st Team All-Region honors, two-time ICCAC Pitcher of the Week, one-time ICCAC Player of the Week, and one-time NJCAA Player of the Week. In the circle, she was 17-10 with 167 innings pitched. She struck out 160 batters, while walking just 27 batters. Offensively, she had a .452 batting average with a .497 on-base percentage. Chase smacked 70 hits, including 21 doubles, 1 triple, and 6 homeruns. Off the field, Chase earned 1^st Team Academic All-Region three times and 3^rd Team NJCAA Academic All-Region.

Coach King had this to say about Lexi, "Lexi is definitely going to be missed around the softball program next year. Her leadership and dedication to this program are unmatched. The respect that she has earned from her teammates and this conference is very impressive to watch. Lexi is a true example of the type of collegiate student-athlete. She has excelled on the field and in the classroom because of the standards she has set for herself. I cannot wait to see what more she can accomplish at Northern these next two years!"
