Iowa Lakes Softball player, Amanda Franke, has recently signed to continue her athletic and academic careers at Buena Vista University. She will be studying Business at the university located in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Franke had this to say about choosing Buena Vista University, "I chose Buena Vista because I loved the family-orientated team and school. The coach had great things to say about the team, and the school, and I felt like I could fit in. The players took me in right away and treated me like I was already part of the team."
Franke is the daughter of John and Traci Franke. She is from Eyota, Minnesota, where she graduated from Dover-Eyota High School with four varsity letters. She was a two-time All-Conference selection, two-time All-Section selection, and a KFIL Radio Player of the game recipient in high school.
Coach King had this to say about Franke, "I am so excited that Amanda has decided to continue her athletic and academic careers at Buena Vista. She has really blossomed into a tremendous athlete and independent young woman since arriving on campus last year. She will be a great addition to both their outfield and offensive lineups, just like she was here at Iowa Lakes. I cannot thank Amanda enough for the time and dedication she showed to Iowa Lakes Softball, and I cannot wait to watch her continue her career at Buena Vista."
In her last season as a Laker, Franke compiled a .327 batting average with a .444 on-base percentage. She had 36 hits, including ten doubles and four homeruns. Franke scored 42 runs and swiped 18 bases on the year. She also finished the season with a .959 fielding percentage with three assists from the outfield. For her efforts, Franke was named to the 2022 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Honorable Mention All-Region Team. Off the field, she earned the honor of being named 1st Team Academic All-Region her freshman and sophomore seasons.
"I have loved my time at Iowa Lakes," commented Franke. "Katie, Courtney, and Kristi pushed me past my limits that I didn't even know were there. With that push, I became a better player, teammate, and person. Forever grateful of my teammates and coaches at Iowa Lakes."
