The Iowa Lakes Softball team has continued their success in the classroom with another impressive semester. The Lakers compiled a 3.61 team GPA, which was the highest at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Additionally, every athlete on the team was awarded an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Academic All-Region award. This is the first time in program history this has been accomplished. To be eligible for first team, an athlete must have a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0. Athletes on the team that received this status are Alyssa Thorson, Baylee O'Donnell, Brielle Bartelt, Bryn Bohmann, Jadyn Case, Karisa Hernandez, MacKenna Jones, Macy Alderson, Madison Goosmann, Olivia Funk, Paige Grafton, and Sydnee Swiggum. Athletes eligible for second team must have a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49. Student-athletes on the softball team that received this honor were Abby Zahn, Jayda Staige, and Kiaya Dunbar.
"I am very proud of this entire team," commented Coach King. "Their efforts in the classroom are unmatched! Being a student-athlete takes commitment, time management, dedication, and so much more. These young women are building skills that are going to help them achieve so much in life. They are a great representation of this program and each of them should be very proud of themselves."
