Iowa Lakes Softball player, Kassidy Elkins, has recently signed to continue her athletic and academic careers at Corban University. She will be studying Exercise Science at the institution located in Salem, Oregon.
Elkins had this to say about choosing Corban University, "I cannot wait to continue my career at Corban University. There's no coaching staff I'd rather play for. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to glorify God on and off the field and keep doing what I love."
Elkins is the daughter of Wes and Shannon Elkins. She is from Estacada, Oregon, where she graduated from Estacada High School.
In her first year as a Laker, Elkins made 33 appearances in the circle. She threw 77.1 innings, where she recorded 6 wins and 6 losses. Elkins allowed 58 earned runs with 49 strikeouts. That was good enough for a 4.44 strikeouts/7 innings. For her efforts both on and off the field, Elkins earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete, as well as Academic All-Region 1st Team.
Coach King had this to say about Elkins, "Kassidy has done a great job within our pitching staff. Her main role last season was to come out of the bullpen, and she did a tremendous job. She was often put into tough situations and was very effective at working the team out of them. Kassidy is one of the hardest working players I have ever had. When I arrive at work in the morning, Kass's vehicle is already at the indoor facility putting in extra work. Anybody that has a work ethic like Kass is destined for success. Corban University is getting not only a good athlete, but an even better person next year. Kass will be very missed at Iowa Lakes!
As for her time at Iowa Lakes, Elkins had this to say, "These last few years at Iowa Lakes have been such a great experience. I feel more prepared than ever to compete at the next level. I'm so thankful for Coach King and the entire coaching staff who created a great environment for me to develop in."
