Six Iowa Lakes Softball Players Selected to All-Region Teams

The Iowa Lakes Community College softball team had six student-athletes who were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Softball All-Region teams.

Karlee Akers, catcher; Katie Kvigne, pitcher; and Addison Wheeler, infield; were selected to the ICCAC All-Region 2nd team. Kenzie Enter, infielder; Korilynn Christians, outfield; and Gracie Knobloch, designated player, earned ICCAC Honorable Mention honors.

Akers, a sophomore, finished the year with a .343 batting average and a .426 on-base percentage. She compiled 59 hits, including 14 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run. Akers scored 31 times and drove in 48 of her teammates. She appeared in all 58 games for the Lakers this season. Karlee is currently fourth in the Iowa Lakes Record book for hit by pitches (13).

Kvigne, a freshman, finished the year with a 18-9 record. She started in 30 games for the Lakers and appeared in 31 in the circle. Kvigne threw 163 innings and struck out 133 batters, for a 5.71 strikeouts/seven innings. She finished the year with a 3.35 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. Kvigne was fifth in the conference in wins, sixth in the conference for innings pitched, and tenth in the conference in strikeouts. For her efforts, Kvigne was awarded ICCAC Player of the Week two times.

Wheeler, a freshman, played in 56 games for the Lakers. Offensively, Wheeler earned a .404 batting average with a .465 on-base percentage and a .590 slugging percentage. She scored 50 runs and drove in 50 runs. Wheeler racked up 76 hits on the year with 24 doubles (second in conference), 1 triple, and 3 home runs.

Enter, a freshman, ended the season with a .302 batting average in 52 games. She recorded 39 hits, including 1 triple and 1 home run. Enter led the team with 28 stolen bases. She also had 20 runs batted in and 34 runs scored this season.

Christians, a sophomore, played in 54 games for the Lakes this season. She earned a .386 batting average with a .430 on-base percentage and a .593 slugging percentage. Christians was second on the team with 73 hits, including 16 doubles, 1 triple, and team high 7 home runs. She drove home 44 of her teammates, while crossing the plate 58 times herself. Knobloch, a freshman, received the award for being the designated player in the Lakers offensive lineup. She appeared in 57 games in her first season in the blue and gold. Knobloch earned a .337 batting average, with a .432 on-base percentage. She recorded 59 hits, including 11 doubles, 2 triples, and 1 home run. Knobloch was able to score 33 times, while scoring 30 of her teammates.

The Lakers had a successful season, earning a 35-23 record overall. They finished the conference season 16-16, which gave them a fifth-place finish in the standings.
