Tavara Swonger – Iowa Lakes – Freshman – Guard
Iowa Lakes freshman guard Tavara Swonger has been named an ICCAC Athlete of the Week after leading the Lakers to a pair of impressive wins, including a victory over Iowa Central, who was receiving votes in the previous NJCAA poll. Across two games, Swonger totaled 21 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, seven steals and a block, while shooting 9-of-22 from the field and contributing in every phase of the game. She helped guide Iowa Lakes to a 65-43 win over Northeast and followed it up by playing a key role in a 53-41 upset of Iowa Central, showcasing her poise and playmaking ability on both ends of the floor. Iowa Lakes is now ranked in the NJCAA poll coming in at No. 25 this week. The Lakers are currently 9-3 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. The Lakers next home game is Wednesday, December 17th vs Iowa Western CC out of Council Bluffs, IA at 5:30pm.
