North Plains District Results

The Lakers' sophomores, Leah Becker and Alyssa Schorg, competed in the North Plains District Tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course. This 36-hole event serves as the qualifier for the NJCAA DII National Tournament. DMACC and NIACC earned automatic bids by placing 1st and 2nd in the team portion. Meghan DeLong (NIACC) and Megan Wilde (DMACC) had already qualified through their team's success but played off for the individual title. Meghan DeLong captured the win after three sudden-death playoff holes. Iowa Central had three individuals tie at +29. There are only two spots for individual qualifiers. All three competed in a playoff. Okira Quintero and Syeda Laiba Shah earned their trip to the national tournament.

As for the Lakers, Leah Becker and Alyssa Schorg got off to a hot start. After the first round, Becker was in 6th and Schorg in 8th. Both posted a season low in the opening round (Leah 84, Alyssa 86). The challenges of day two caused Becker and Schorg to drop out of contention and miss the national tournament. Schorg finished 16th (+41), and Becker T-19th (+48).

"It's never easy to come up short of our goals. I was extremely happy with how the ladies fought til the end. Ultimately, both Alyssa and Leah played better than their season average. We played our best when it mattered most! Closing the chapter on their careers at Iowa Lakes isn't easy. Their hard work and personalities will be missed next year," said Coach Myers. "Both of them have a great start to the next chapter in life. I'm excited to watch them grow in their respective professions and continue the success they had as Lakers."
