The Iowa Lakes Community College wrestling team turned in several standout efforts at the BVU Open, highlighted by a runner-up finish at 141 pounds and multiple strong placements throughout the lineup. "We saw a lot of growth today," said Head Coach Corey Meyer. "Logan and Jadyn set the tone at 141, but across the board, our guys competed hard. Camacho's run on the backside showed the kind of fight we want in this program. We'll take the positives, fix the mistakes, and keep building."
McDonald Finishes Runner-Up at 141
Logan McDonald put together the Lakers' top performance of the day, finishing 2nd at 141 pounds. McDonald dominated the early rounds with a tech fall and two solid decision wins before falling in the championship match to Upper Iowa's Cael Bridgewater. His run earned 16.5 team points, continuing his strong start to the season.
Friedrichs Places 6th at 141
Jadyn Friedrichs also impressed at 141 pounds, securing 6th place and scoring 13.5 team points. He opened with a first-period pin, added a tech fall in the consolations, and followed with another fall to reach the placing rounds.
Chimeno Takes 7th at 125
Dominic Chimeno earned a 7th-place finish at 125 pounds. After an early pin over Iowa Central's Shane Schwab, Chimeno closed his day with a dominant 17–4 major decision over Simpson's Brody Hufford to secure his spot on the podium.
Deyampert Finishes 7th at 174
At 174 pounds, Etheend Deyampert battled his way to a 7th-place finish. He opened with a major decision, added a strong 14–8 win in the second round, and capped the day with a 4–2 decision over Iowa Central's Brody Grimm.
Camacho Racks Up Bonus Points at 149
While falling just short of the podium, Daniel Camacho delivered one of the most exciting consolation runs of the tournament. After a first-round loss, Camacho charged back with three straight pins, including a 46-second fall to close his day. His performance netted 11 team points and marked one of the day's top bonus-point surges for the Lakers.
