The Iowa Lakes women's soccer team ended their regular season May 8th with a record of 2-8. The number 4 seeded Lakers will now compete in the ICCAC semifinals at the Reiver Sports Complex in Council Bluffs, IA, May 16th at 2:00 pm against the number 1 seeded Iowa Western Reivers.

Players to highlight for the Lakers this season include Alexis Vasquez and Isabella Burger. Freshman, Alexis Vasquez, has 2 goals and 1 assist on the season. Head coach Blake Viedenkamp says, "She has been an engine in midfield all season. She really helps us in the attack."

Freshman, Isabella Burger, has also been a key player this season with 1 goal on the season. Burger was described as, "A very versatile player that has played in defense and in the attack. She helps us get in behind the defense and create scoring opportunities."

The Lakers will be facing Iowa Western for the third time this season. Coach Viedenkamp says, "We have been very injured throughout the whole season. The women have no quit in them though. Towards the end of the season, we have had some time off which has been extremely helpful. This season we have played Iowa Western twice. The first time we played them we lost 3-0, and the second time we played them we lost 1-0 with better scoring opportunities. The women are up for it, we're excited for the first round."

The winner of the semifinal game will play in the Region XI championship Wednesday May 19th at the higher seed's field.
