Prie and Poole Power Lakers to Region 11 Title, Earn Tournament and ICCAC Honors
Iowa Lakes Community College women's soccer standouts Amelie Prie and Holly Poole played pivotal roles in leading the Lakers to the Region 11 Championship and postseason advancement.
Prie was named the Region 11 Tournament MVP after anchoring an impenetrable defense throughout the tournament. In the semifinals against Hawkeye, she played the entire match at center back, guiding the Lakers to a 2-0 shutout. In the championship match versus Northeast, she added a late goal in another 2-0 victory to secure the title. Prie's outstanding play also earned her first ICCAC Athlete of the Week award of the season.
Poole, continuing her remarkable season, earned her third consecutive ICCAC Athlete of the Week honor after recording back-to-back shutouts in the Region 11 Tournament. She made three saves in the semifinal win and five more in the championship game, keeping opponents scoreless throughout the postseason and helping Iowa Lakes capture its second straight Region 11 crown.
Together, Prie and Poole anchored a defense that did not concede a single goal during the tournament, exemplifying the poise, discipline, and leadership that have defined the Lakers' success this season.
"Amelie and Holly have been incredible leaders for us," said Head Coach Mukwa Ogitchida"Their consistency and composure in big moments set the tone for the entire team. They've raised the standard for what it means to compete and represent Iowa Lakes."
