On Saturday October 18th, the Lakers traveled to Dordt University for their home opener meet! Starting off strong with a 1:40.54 in the Mens 200 Medley Relay, Freshmen Ethan Heideyer, Jochem Lemmens and Roberto Suarez made their Laker Debut swimming with Sophmore Grant Bumsted. With a quick turnaround, Suarez had to dive back in for the Mens 1000 Freestyle and came away with a first place finish and a time of 11:49.04.
Also making their collegiate swimming debut, freshman Coral Rork swam the 200 free with a final time of 2:42.14. Heideyer also swimming the 200 Free and capturing a first place finish with a time of 1:45.58.
Freshman women Lakers, Josey Saxton, Emma Graff, Aspen Rork and Coral Rork all competed in the 50 free!
Jochem Lemmens crushed the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.60. Sophomore Grant Bumsted won the 100 fly with a time of 54.91. Heideyer coming away with a fisrt place finish again in the 100 Back with a 53.40 and ending the day with Sophmore Lucas Nuevonen competing in the 100 breast finsihing with a 1:14.04 and freshman Emma Graff winning first place in the womens 100 Breast with a 1:15.91!
Dordt pulled through and slid by with a win but the Lakers are going to come back stronger!
