Four Lakers Notch Double-Doubles, Kunselman Reaches Milestone Ace as Team Tops William Penn JV

September 19, 2025 | Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Iowa Lakes Community College volleyball team earned their second straight five-set victory Thursday night, defeating William Penn JV on the road. The Lakers came out on top by scores of 11-25, 25-22, 27-29, 25-23, and 15-13. 

Freshman outside hitter Brooke White powered the offense with a team-high 18 kills on .271 hitting, while also adding 11 digs for a double-double. Briana Cunnigan-Little added 14 kills, and Kajsa Bates contributed 10 kills on a .233 clip. 

Three Lakers recorded double-doubles in the win: 

  • White (18 kills, 11 digs) 

Defensively, libero Lorin Turkdogan anchored the back row with a match-high 27 digs. Lily Kunselman added 12 digs and also reached a milestone, notching her 100th career ace. 

As a team, Iowa Lakes finished with 54 kills, 97 digs, and 10 service aces in the win. 

"This was another gritty five-set battle for us, and I'm proud of how we stayed composed down the stretch," Head Coach Menzies said. "Our hitters stepped up, and defensively we had some huge plays that made the difference. We showed real growth tonight by pushing through tough moments and finding a way to pull out the win in five sets." 

With the victory, the Lakers improve to 6-11 on the season. Iowa Lakes will return to action on Monday, Sept. 22, when they travel to Madison, S.D. for a triangular at Dakota State University. The Lakers will face Dakota State JV at 4:00 p.m. and Mount Marty JV at 5:30 p.m.
