Estherville, Iowa – Iowa Lakes Community College Volleyball is proud to announce that sophomores Kajsa Bates and Lorin Turkdogan have been recognized among the top players in NJCAA Region XI for the 2024–25 season. Bates was named Third Team All-Region, while Turkdogan earned Honorable Mention All-Region honors after standout seasons for the Lakers.
Bates Named Third Team All-Region
Middle hitter Kajsa Bates delivered a strong sophomore campaign and established herself as one of the region's most productive two-way players. Bates recorded 233 kills, averaging 1.93 kills per set, while hitting .235 on the season. She added 83 total blocks and 113 digs, along with 37 service aces, and was a consistent presence in all facets of the game.
Bates finished the year with 323 total points, averaging 2.7 points per set. Her balance, reliability, and leadership made her one of the key components of the Lakers' success throughout the season.
Turkdogan Earns Honorable Mention
Libero Lorin Turkdogan anchored the Lakers' defense this season, recording 586 digs (4.84 per set), 65 assists, and 22 service aces. She also contributed 6 kills, finishing the season with 28.5 total points. Turkdogan's defensive skill and leadership in the back row were critical to the team's performance all year.
Turkdogan finished the season as one of the most dependable defensive specialists in the conference, consistently providing stability and energy in the backcourt. Her ability to read attackers, control first contact, and extend rallies made her an essential part of the Lakers' defensive identity. Beyond her numbers, Turkdogan's communication and composure anchored the team during high-pressure moments and played a vital role in guiding the Lakers throughout the year.
Bates and Turkdogan were both key contributors to the Lakers' success this season, helping Iowa Lakes finish with an 11-21 overall record and 4-8 mark in ICCAC conference play.
