The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team dropped a competitive matchup Tuesday night, falling to Dordt University JV, 83-75, at home.
Dordt built an early lead behind efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure, forcing the Lakers to play from behind for most of the game. Iowa Lakes responded in the second half with increased defensive intensity and timely scoring, cutting the deficit to just four points late in the contest.
Despite the late push, Dordt held on with key free throws and disciplined execution in the final minutes to secure the win.
Jermaine Freeman led Iowa Lakes with 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jorge Castro added 23 points, including 17 in the second half, while Cooper Harris and Timothy Ofesi each grabbed 9 rebounds.
9 of 10 players that played, scored for Dordt. The defenders were led by Nate VanDeBerg with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
The Lakers will look to bounce back in their next contest against No. 9 Johnson County on Friday, November 7 at 7 p.m. at the Johnson County Classic. Iowa Lakes will then take on Highland Community College (Kansas) on Saturday, November 8 at 2 p.m.
