Estherville, Iowa — February 7, 2026 —
The Iowa Lakes Community College men's basketball team fell to No. 2 Des Moines Area Community College, 84–58, Saturday evening at the Iowa Lakes Gymnasium.
DMACC jumped out early and led 38–25 at halftime before pulling away in the second half, outscoring the Lakers 46–33 over the final 20 minutes. The Bears used efficient shooting and depth to control the pace, especially in transition and inside the paint.
Lakers' Offensive Leaders
Sophomore guard Jermaine Freeman led Iowa Lakes with a team-high 19 points, going 6-of-18 from the field and 6-of-7 at the free-throw line while adding five assists in 39 minutes.
Cooper Harris finished with eight points, while Jorge Castro added six points and five rebounds. Timothy Ofesi contributed seven points and eight rebounds, and Dominic Preiser chipped in four points and five boards. Iowa Lakes also received five points from Byron Maina and three points from Germaal Forde.
Team Performance
Iowa Lakes shot 33.3 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from three-point range (5-of-21), while converting 13-of-19 (68.4 percent) from the free-throw line. The Lakers matched DMACC on the glass with 41 rebounds apiece, but were outscored in the paint 48–26.
DMACC also capitalized on turnovers, scoring 18 points off 19 Iowa Lakes giveaways.
