Lakers Earn 77–66 Road Win at Western Iowa Tech

Sioux City, Iowa — February 14, 2026 — The Iowa Lakes Community College men's basketball team secured a 77–66 road win over Western Iowa Tech on Saturday afternoon.

The Lakers set the tone early, taking a 37–24 lead into halftime behind efficient offense and strong play at the free-throw line. Iowa Lakes shot 46 percent from the field and converted 25-of-33 (75.8 percent) from the stripe to help maintain control throughout the game.

Lakers' Offensive Leaders

Jermaine Freeman led all scorers with 26 points, going 6-of-13 from the field and 12-of-15 at the free-throw line while adding seven rebounds in 35 minutes.

Steven Martinez added 13 points and five rebounds, while Germaal Forde was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field for 11 points and five boards. Jorge Castro chipped in 12 points off the bench, knocking down two three-pointers, and Dominic Preiser anchored the paint with 11 rebounds.

Team Performance

Iowa Lakes outrebounded Western Iowa Tech 37–34 and held the home team to 42.4 percent shooting. Despite a stronger second-half push from WIT, the Lakers maintained their composure down the stretch to secure the 11-point victory.
