Clash of Champions: #8 Iowa Lakes Falls 0–3 to #3 Northeast in Rival Showdown

Norfolk, NE — In a showdown between the last two national champions, #8 Iowa Lakes came up short in a 0–3 loss to #3 Northeast Community College. Iowa Lakes captured the title in 2023, while Northeast claimed the crown in 2024.

Iowa Lakes controlled much of the game, dominating possession and firing 12 total shots. Despite the pressure, Northeast broke through on two counterattacks and capitalized on a corner kick to secure the win.

Goalkeeper Louis Krueger delivered a strong effort with five saves, keeping the Lakers within reach throughout the match.

The rivalry between Iowa Lakes and Northeast continues to be one of the nation's fiercest, pitting consecutive champions against each other in high-stakes matches. Iowa Lakes now turns its focus to Saturday's matchup at Northwest Iowa Community College, kicking off at 3:30 p.m.
