#10 Lakers Shine in Top 10 Clash, Defeat #6 Western Iowa Tech 3–1

Spencer, IA — In a highly anticipated Top 10 clash, the #10-ranked Iowa Lakes Lakers earned a statement victory at home, defeating #6 Western Iowa Tech 3–1 on Saturday afternoon.

Sharif Nata N'tcha led the way with a brace, scoring twice in the first half to give Iowa Lakes control early. Nata N'tcha opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finishing calmly off a precise assist from Florent Lefebvre. He struck again in the 37th minute after a well-worked sequence involving Jugene Wessels and goalkeeper Louis Krueger, who picked up an assist on the play.

Western Iowa Tech's lone goal came from the penalty spot in the 25th minute, but the Lakers remained composed and dominant throughout. Lefebvre capped the match in style with a stunning free kick in the 89th minute to seal the victory.

Krueger was steady in goal, recording six saves and anchoring a strong defensive performance. Offensively, the Lakers were relentless—firing 25 total shots, including 15 on target, compared to WIT's 9 shots and 5 on frame.

The win marks a crucial result in Iowa Lakes' push toward a national tournament berth and solidifies their place among the NJCAA's top programs.

The Lakers return to action on Wednesday, October 15 at 3:30pm, for Sophomore Night at home against Hawkeye Community College.
