IOWA LAKES MEN'S SOCCER CROWNED PLAINS DISTRICT CHAMPIONS, PUNCH TICKET TO NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Spencer, Iowa (November 7, 2025) — The Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer team continued its historic run on Friday night, defeating Johnson County 5–0 to capture the Plains District Championship and secure an automatic berth to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

With the dominant win, the Lakers completed a remarkable sweep — claiming all three major titles this season:

• ICCAC Regular Season Champions

• Region XI Tournament Champions

• Plains District Champions

Playing in front of a home crowd at the Spencer Campus, Iowa Lakes controlled the match from start to finish. The Lakers' attack was firing on all cylinders, with goals coming from Jugene Wessels, Jose Velasquez, Zenn Thiele, and Emmanuel Benazra.

This victory caps off an incredible postseason stretch for the Lakers, marking their third straight championship in as many opportunities and solidifying their place among the nation's elite.

Iowa Lakes will now await its placement in the NJCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Tournament. The official Selection Show will air on Tuesday, November 11, at 6:30 p.m., live from the Iowa Lakes Community College Spencer Campus.
