Iowa Lakes has gotten off to a great start to their 2019-20 season heading into December with a 7-2 record. One player who is doing her job in order for the Lakers to keep on their six-game winning streak is sophomore guard Shareece Smith. Smith has taken advantage of her time spent on the hardwood. Last week against Gustavus JV, she scored 17 points, hitting both her three-point attempts, helping her team squeak out a close one 63-58. The Lakers followed up with a 95-65 win over Minnesota West. Smith put up 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, giving her the first double-double of her season.
"Shareece makes everyone around her better. She pushes the tempo and allows our team to play quick. She is a tenacious defender and has really sparked our defense. I'm excited to see her continue to improve," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.
The Lakers are currently 7-2 on the season and 0-0 in conference play. The Lakers return to action this weekend November 30th when they travel to Mason City to play in the Thanksgiving Basketball Classic.
