Estherville, IA — The Iowa Lakes Community College women's basketball team captured a strong home victory over Northeast Community College, defeating the Hawks 65–43 inside the Laker Gymnasium. With the win, the Lakers move to 6‑3 overall and 2‑0 in conference play.
Iowa Lakes got balanced scoring across the lineup. Zoey Wooten led the way with 17 points, while Tavara Swonger added 12 points. Makyia Kenney recorded a double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds, helping the Lakers dominate the glass 51–39.
The Lakers' defense was especially dominant, holding Northeast to just 9 made field goals on 50 attempts for 18% shooting. Iowa Lakes jumped out to an early lead and maintained control throughout the game, leading 28–23 at halftime. The quarter-by-quarter scoring was:
