September 3, 2025 | Burlington, Iowa – The Iowa Lakes Community College volleyball team traveled to face Southeastern Community College on Wednesday night, falling in three sets to the Blackhawks. The Lakers dropped the match by scores of 23-25, 11-25, and 18-25.

Iowa Lakes battled closely in the opening set, keeping the score tight until the final points. Southeastern gained momentum in the second set with strong serving runs and carried that energy into the third to close out the match.

The Lakers showed stretches of solid play, highlighted by a strong blocking presence at the net that helped slow down the Blackhawks' attack. Serve receive and defensive rallies also stood out as areas of growth for the team.

"We competed well early, and I'm proud of the fight in that first set," Head Coach Menzies said. "Our blocking was a real bright spot tonight. Now it's about finding ways to sustain that energy across all three sets."

The Lakers move to 3-5 on the season. Iowa Lakes will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 9, when they host Central Community College at 7 p.m.
