September 15, 2025 | Wahpeton, N.D. – The Iowa Lakes Community College volleyball team competed in the NDSCS Tournament this past weekend, finishing with a 1-3 record. The Lakers dropped both of their matches on Friday before splitting their two contests on Saturday, highlighted by a five-set win over St. Cloud Technical and Community College.
On Friday, Iowa Lakes fell to Alexandria Technical and Community College in four sets (17-25, 25-22, 21-25, 13-25) and to Lake Region State College (N.D.) in four as well (25-13, 18-25, 15-25, 18-25).
The Lakers bounced back Saturday morning with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over St. Cloud Tech, winning by scores of 25-17, 27-25, 26-28, 16-25, and 15-10. Iowa Lakes showed grit in the deciding set, pulling away late to secure the team's lone win of the weekend. The Lakers then closed tournament play with a three-set loss to Jamestown JV (16-25, 23-25, 15-25).
Several players stood out across the four matches. Kajsa Bates provided consistent offense, finishing with 27 kills while hitting .257 on the weekend. Madison Conrad added 35 kills and posted a .208 hitting percentage, giving the Lakers steady production at the net. Defensively, Lorin Turkdogan anchored the back row, leading the team with an impressive 93 digs over the course of the tournament.
The Lakers move to 4-10 on the season. Iowa Lakes will return to action on Monday, Sept. 15, when they host Minnesota West Community and Technical College at 6:15 p.m.
