Lakers Control Game from Start to Finish in 94–51 Win Over Southeastern CC

Estherville, Iowa — The Iowa Lakes women's basketball team turned in a strong all-around performance in a 94–51 victory over Southeastern Community College on January 3 in Estherville.

Iowa Lakes set the tone early, scoring 26 points in the first quarter while holding Southeastern to 12. The Lakers continued to build momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Blackhawks 25–12 to take a commanding lead into halftime.

After the break, Iowa Lakes maintained control with 24 points in the third quarter, while Southeastern added 13. The Lakers closed out the game with 19 points in the fourth, limiting Southeastern to 14 to secure the win.

Southeastern competed with just five available players for the contest, while Iowa Lakes relied on its depth and balanced production throughout the game.

The Lakers were led in scoring by Zoey Wooten, who finished with a game-high 29 points. Tahlea Tirrell added 15 points, while Baakir Christian and Erica Welsh each scored 12 points, giving Iowa Lakes four players in double figures.

Head coach Ashley Martin said, "It was great to get back on the court after the break. Our team played hard, shared the ball, and really took care of business tonight. I'm proud of the way everyone contributed to a complete team win."

With the win, Iowa Lakes improves to 11–3 overall and 7–0 in conference play.

The Lakers return to action on Tuesday, January 7, when they travel to Cedar Rapids to face #2 ranked Kirkwood Community College at 5:30pm.  Iowa Lakes is currently ranked #20.

Iowa Lakes' next home game will be Wednesday, January 14, at 5:30 p.m. against Ellsworth Community College.
